These accounts are for individual and businesses internal use only. I would suggest if you value your files you find a means of ensuring you don't lose them. Personal, Team, and Business plans are not for resale. Many have protested here that Dropbox cancelled their accounts and removed access to files 'without reason.' I can't comment. But generally it seems to be a reasonable period of time - think 24 months of inactivity - before this occurs.ĭoes Dropbox do the shady? I've been with them for several years. This seems to be variable and no specific timelines, amount of storage used, etc seems to drive this. Can they be deleted? If you don't access any of those files for a period of time then Dropbox might let you know they are going to close out your account and remove files. Does Dropbox promise to keep them forever? No. If they were sync'd to my device (they were), they'll remain there but no changes will be uploaded. So, as someone who has gone over the 2GB limit, I will expect my files to remain but they will no longer sync.
If you exceed the storage quota of your Basic account, Dropbox will stop syncing files to your devices. However, you’ll be limited to 2 GB of storage space. When you downgrade to a Basic account, you won’t lose access to any of your files and folders stored in Dropbox. A lesser cost for a 1TB plan might have meant I would stay but that's a debate oft' occured on this site.
I've cancelled my renewal which was scheduled for April.
